"Keep it simple".

Fifty years ago, my father told me: "Son, you should become a draughtsman: you won't need to work too hard and in winter you will be warm and dry". On hindsight I am happy to have followed his advice, not so much that I would not have to work hard, neither because I would always be warm and dry, but because that decision brought me into a professional environment which, even after all these years, still fascinates me.

In 1974 I found myself at the drawing table, straight from school. In those days we still used to work at real drawing tables in a renowned company, called Badger Antwerp. I was lucky there was still attention and opportunity for on the job training. Unfortunately, in 1977 Badger USA decided to discontinue its operations in Belgium. The company was taken over by a Belgian Engineering Company, Coppée-Courtoy. It is in that company that I was able to follow the pad of my engineering career from 1977 until 1996. The job environment fascinated me so much that I was able to improve my skills still further: from draughtsman to project leader, from the drawing board to 3D computer work. One thing is certain: basic engineering principles were deeply rooted during the first 25 years of my professional career.

A turning point in my career took place in 1996, when I was offered an opportunity to add a commercial element to my professional knowledge. I have been a Commercial Manager in an engineering company ever since. I do not so much consider my job as that of a salesman, I rather see myself as a conversation partner for clients regarding their projects.

As stated in the introduction to my biography, I still find engineering a fascinating operating environment. Even with 45 years of experience in the field, I am still enthusiastic to make a contribution by sharing knowledge, by respecting basic engineering principles in order to bring a project to a successful conclusion.

With LiNK Engineering group I find myself again in my natural habitat as a conversation partner for customers pursuing sustainable collaboration and transfer of knowledge.

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do!"

Over 20 years ago, as a young graduate, I ended up at Phenacemide factory through a holiday job. I familiarised myself with project work, which would form the basis for my future career.

After a number of projects in which I functioned as interim employee, I was offered the opportunity to work as Office Manager. I have been in charge of wages records ever since, lending my ear to consultants daily. Their contentment gives me my greatest job satisfaction. My other tasks entail an adequate approach to client and supplier invoicing, as well as the administration of the fleet of cars.

When Marc Rummens of Human Capital Investments enthusiastically invited me to join the LiNK team I did not hesitate for a second. Being able to form part of a passionate team with old acquaintances feels like home coming.

Building together, sharing the same principles and values, complemented by each individual's talents and competences will undoubtedly lead to a bright future for LiNK!

"Let's Link and meet!"

Finding my own way and doing what gave me real satisfaction was not always easy. With my certificate in Technology I thought it would be wise to follow my father's advice. In his opinion I could only build a future if I was prepared to do manual work. Yet, it didn't feel right to me, I wanted to do something where human involvement was important.

A few job applications later, something happened that I could never have dreamt of. I found a job in the temporary employment sector, where my engagement towards people opened me up entirely. From day one I was fascinated by people looking for new jobs, by their motives and personal situations. It soon became clear that I could easily establish links between customers, corporate culture and candidates. Obviously, this process developed along lines of trial and error, but ultimately, I learnt a lot from this.

With my experience from the temporary employment sector, I started working within the world of consultancy and Project Sourcing. That is where everything that motivates me converged. A wonderful combination of my technological studies and my experience as a recruiter. Establishing a link between somebody's professional career and companies where I would be able to offer added value as an Account Manager, was exactly what I was looking for.

Together with the colleagues from LiNK Engineering Group's we soon knew where we could further professionalise our sector. A company where we aim for more quality, in which both consultants and customers take a central place. A company where everyone is on the same page and where set-backs are considered a new opportunity. How much further do you have to look for it?

I am very much looking forward to guiding candidates in their search for a new challenge and to assisting customers in the execution of their projects.

After more than 25 years in banking I had gradually built a fascinating career, first as Branch Manager with BNPParibas Fortis, later as Senior Corporate Banker and Deputy Director Corporate Banking with Belfius Bank. In those positions, I was privileged working with numerous companies in various sectors including family businesses, listed, international and specialised enterprises. I used to be a conversation partner with business owners, CEOs and CFOs on matters of financial management and strategy. By providing them with the right financial solutions in treasury management, investments, corporate lending, asset finance, debt capital markets and financial markets I have contributed to their growth and we have been successful in achieving objectives together.

As Deputy Director I was equally responsible for managing commercial team of Corporate Bankers. Coaching, realizing set objectives together, acquiring competences and working as a team in a pleasant atmosphere were my goals and gave me a lot of job satisfaction.

Some 20 years ago, when I was working in Corporate Banking, I met Marc Rummens, who convinced me 2 years ago to accept the job of COO in Human Capital Investments. With that experience I am now able to take part in the new story of LiNK Engineering Group. I am strongly motivated to pursue sustainable growth for LiNK, for its customers and, by extension, for a better future, with a team of experienced experts. Engagement is the guiding motive in my professional life. Working together and taking responsibility are my starting points to provide added value. That is why I gladly accept the responsibility of CFO in LiNK Engineering Group.
